About Me

Andy Bonner

From securing exclusive interviews to bringing creative and entertaining story ideas to the screen, I have lived and breathed TV news since the 1990s.

I am probably best-known for my award-winning work on the new Hillsborough Inquests. No other journalist covered as many days at the hearing, the longest case heard by a jury in British legal history.

However, I have worked on all types of news. I have held politicians to account and interviewed enough celebrities to fill a hall of fame, but my passion is meeting real people in our communities and getting the chance to share their stories.

I joined Granada Television in 2000, working on Granada Tonight, Sunday Supplement, Lunchtime Live and a documentary about the Manchester Commonwealth Games; Beyond The Baton.

I learned how to shoot and edit as a pioneering video journalist at cable TV station Channel One Liverpool. I now put those skills to good use for ITV.

I have been presenting TV programmes since the 1990s, when I hosted a weekly movie show, current affairs programmes and anchored the evening news. I still enjoy presenting Granada Reports from our studios in MediaCity UK, Salford.

Trained in broadcast journalism, I began my career in radio. I joined Marcher Sound (now Capital NW/Smooth Radio) and also read the first news bulletin on what is now Capital Liverpool. I’ve presented programmes at Radio City Talk, Dee Radio and Happy Radio UK.
